Parole, Probation, and Mandatory Supervision
For a released Hale County person, the first question is what kind of legal status followed release. Probation is usually ordered by the sentencing court, often as part of a suspended sentence, split sentence, or plea disposition. Parole is release from state prison before the end of the prison sentence under the authority of the Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles. Mandatory supervision is different again: Alabama law can require eligible ADOC inmates not otherwise released on parole to leave prison before the end of sentence and report to ABPP for a statutory supervision period.

Definition note: release from Hale County Jail is not the same thing as discharge from all legal control. A person may be released on bond, transferred to ADOC, placed on probation, released to parole, released to mandatory supervision, or held by another agency. How to Verify Hale County Supervision
Do not rely on the Hale County Jail roster path after a person has moved into state supervision. The county jail can confirm a local release or transfer, but ABPP is the main supervision agency for adult Alabama parole, probation, and mandatory supervision. Use the court file when the question is probation ordered in a Hale County case, and use ABPP when the question is parole, revocation, delinquency, mandatory supervision, or a person granted parole but not yet released.
- Confirm the release source. If the person left Hale County Jail, call the Hale County Sheriff's Office at 334-624-3081 and ask whether the person was released, transferred, or held for another agency.
- Check the Hale County court case. The Circuit Clerk and courts are at the Hale County Courthouse, 1001 Main Street, Greensboro. Alacourt provides on-demand access for many Alabama trial-court records.
- If the person was sentenced to ADOC, search ADOC while the person is still in custody and note the AIS number, minimum release date, parole consideration date, and parole status.
- Use ABPP's scheduled parole hearings and hearing advancers to see whether a hearing is pending.
- Use ABPP's hearing-results archive and hearing minutes to see whether a hearing was granted, denied, continued, or otherwise acted on.
- For supervision questions that are not answered by public hearing materials, use ABPP's Public Information Unit or the applicable field office. ABPP specifically routes questions about parole hearings and about people granted parole but not yet released.
Centreville Office, Greensboro Reporting
The most Hale-specific ABPP detail is the Centreville Field Office arrangement. ABPP's field-office materials identify Centreville as the field office serving Hale County, and ABPP's 2024 Centreville article states that the office conducts monthly off-site reporting in Greensboro, about 40 miles away, to reduce travel burden for probationers and parolees. That means a Hale County supervisee may have a Centreville office assignment while appearing locally in Greensboro for a reporting event.

Use this local reporting detail carefully. The public research confirms service area and off-site reporting, but it does not publish a public schedule for every Hale County reporting day. A person under supervision should rely on direct ABPP instructions, not a web summary, for reporting time, location, documents, fees, and conditions.
ABPP Hearings and Results
Parole-hearing records are state-level records, not Hale County jail records. ABPP says parole and pardon hearings are held in open public meeting each week on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday unless otherwise noted, at 301 South Ripley Street in Montgomery. A granted parole result is not the same thing as a physical same-day release. ABPP's Public Information Unit includes routing for questions about a person granted parole but not yet released, which is the practical warning: verify the hearing outcome, then verify release processing through ABPP, ADOC, or the appropriate records office.
Conditions, Violations, and Absconders
Supervision status can change after release. A person may be active on supervision, delinquent, revoked, continued, discharged, or wanted for a violation. ADOC defines parole status in terms that include whether a person is currently on parole, has been declared delinquent, or has had parole revoked. ABPP also references absconder information through its Public Information Unit resources. If a violation is suspected, use ABPP for statewide supervision status and use Hale County court records and the sheriff for any local warrant or court-order question.

How Hale County Supervision Ends
Supervision may end by expiration, discharge, court order, revocation, sentence change, or another agency action. A probation end date should be checked against the sentencing court's order and case action history. A parole or mandatory-supervision end date should be checked through ABPP and ADOC records. If the person was originally booked into Hale County Jail, the jail release entry can still matter because it identifies when local custody ended and whether the person was released to the community, to ADOC, to ABPP processing, or to another agency.
Alabama public-records law begins with Code Section 36-12-40, but criminal justice records can be limited by juvenile status, Youthful Offender Act status, sealed or expunged orders, victim confidentiality, active-investigation concerns, and jail security restrictions. A release-record request should be specific and purpose-neutral: ask for the booking record, jail docket entry, release date and time, release reason, release authority, court case number, transfer agency if any, and any releasable supervision-related notation.
